Endress Hauser Proline Promag 55S Electromagnetic Flowmeter 55S15 55S1F 55S1H

The Proline Promag 55S is an electromagnetic flowmeter from Endress+Hauser, purpose-built for the most demanding applications involving inhomogeneous, abrasive, and corrosive fluids. Featuring a high-performance transmitter based on DSP technology, this instrument not only reliably measures flow but also calculates solids content with minimal maintenance requirements, making it ideal for industries such as sewage treatment, pulp and paper production, and the mining and metals industry.

The meter operates on a bidirectional measuring principle that is virtually independent of pressure, density, temperature, and viscosity. With no moving parts, the device is maintenance-free and delivers energy-efficient measurement without pressure loss due to cross-section constriction. The nominal diameter range covers DN 15 to 600 (½ to 24 inches), with measuring capabilities from 0.06 dm³/min to 600 m³/h (0.015 to 2,650 gal/min).

Wetted materials are extensively selected to withstand harsh process conditions. Liner options include polyurethane, hard rubber, PFA, PTFE, and natural rubber, while electrode materials are available in 1.4435/304L, Alloy C-22, Tantalum, Platinum, Duplex 1.4465, Tungsten carbide, and Titanium. This wide material selection enables compatibility with diverse abrasive and corrosive media. The medium temperature range extends from –20 to +180°C (–4 to +356°F), depending on the liner material, with a maximum process pressure of PN 40, Class 300, or JIS 20 K. Measurement accuracy is specified at ±0.5% of reading ± 1 mm/s for standard applications, with an optional ±0.2% version.

The transmitter features a 4-line backlit display with touch control and two switch outputs for convenient local operation. Unique signal processing delivers superb signal stability even in noisy flow applications with high solids content or entrained air. Additional safety and reliability features include an intensified coil system, integrated electrode cleaning, and automatic data recovery for servicing. The sensor is rated IP67 as standard, with an optional IP68 for remote versions. Digital communication options include HART, PROFIBUS DP/PA, and FOUNDATION Fieldbus, with hazardous area approvals including ATEX, FM, CSA, and UK Ex.
