Endress Hauser Proline Promag W 500 Electromagnetic Flowmeter 5W5B1F 5W5B32 5W5B1H

The Proline Promag W 500 is an electromagnetic flowmeter from Endress+Hauser, engineered as a specialist for demanding water and wastewater applications. Featuring an innovative remote transmitter with up to 4 I/Os, it maximizes installation flexibility and operational safety in hazardous areas and harsh conditions.

Key Features and Benefits

  • Reliable Measurement with No Pressure Loss: The bidirectional measuring principle is virtually independent of pressure, density, temperature, and viscosity. It requires 0 x DN inlet run and causes no pressure loss due to cross-section constriction, ensuring constant accuracy even in space-restricted installations.

  • Certified Corrosion Protection: Meets EN ISO 12944 corrosion protection standards, making it suitable for underground or permanent underwater installation (optional IP68, Type 6P enclosure).

  • Broad Approvals: Holds international drinking water approvals including ACS, KTW/W270, NSF 61, and WRAS BS 6920. Approved for custody transfer according to MI-001/OIML R49 standards.

  • Remote Transmitter with Enhanced Features: The remote version supports up to 4 I/Os, with a 4-line backlit display featuring touch control and WLAN access for convenient local operation. A standard cable connects the sensor and transmitter for flexible installation.

  • Flexible and Durable Design: The sensor is available with fixed or lap-joint process connections and features a robust, completely welded construction for long-term operation.

  • Built-in Heartbeat Technology: Integrated verification ensures measurement reliability, enables compliant verification according to ISO 9001, and allows extension of recalibration cycles.

The meter operates on the bidirectional electromagnetic measuring principle, which is virtually independent of pressure, density, temperature, and viscosity. With no moving parts, the device is maintenance-free and delivers energy-efficient measurement without pressure loss due to cross-section constriction. The patented full-bore sensor design requires no inlet or outlet runs (0 x DN), ensuring constant accuracy even in space-restricted installations directly after bends. The nominal diameter range covers DN 25 to 2400 (1 to 90 inches), with measuring capabilities from 9 dm³/min to 110,000 m³/h (2.5 gal/min to 700 Mgal/d). Measurement accuracy is specified at ±0.5% of reading ± 1 mm/s for standard applications, with an optional high-accuracy version at ±0.2% of reading ± 2 mm/s.

Wetted materials are selected for compatibility with water and wastewater applications. Liner options include polyurethane (–20 to +50°C), hard rubber (0 to +80°C), and PTFE (–20 to +90°C). Electrode materials are available in 1.4435 (316L) stainless steel, Alloy C22 (2.4602/UNS N06022), and Tantalum. The sensor housing is constructed of coated AlSi10Mg for DN 25–300, with carbon steel and protective varnish for larger sizes. Maximum process pressure is PN 40, Class 300, or 20K.

The sensor meets EN ISO 12944 corrosion protection standards, making it suitable for underground or permanent underwater installation, with an optional IP68 (Type 6P) enclosure for remote sensor versions. The device holds international drinking water approvals including ACS, KTW/W270, NSF 61, and WRAS BS 6920, with custody transfer certification according to MI-001/OIML R49 standards.

The remote transmitter supports up to 4 I/Os, offering extensive connectivity for various process requirements. A 4-line backlit display features touch control and WLAN access for convenient local operation, and a standard cable connects the sensor and transmitter for flexible installation. Transmitter housing options include coated AlSi10Mg, stainless steel 1.4409 (CF3M) similar to 316L, and polycarbonate. Digital communication options include HART, PROFIBUS DP/PA, FOUNDATION Fieldbus, Modbus RS485, PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, and OPC-UA, ensuring seamless integration into a wide range of control systems.

Integrated Heartbeat Technology enables continuous process safety monitoring and compliant verification in accordance with ISO 9001. This technology allows extension of recalibration cycles and provides proof of measurement reliability without process interruption.
