The Liquiline CM44P is a universal four-wire multichannel transmitter from Endress+Hauser, engineered for connecting process photometers and Memosens digital sensors. The transmitter’s core capability is its unique hybrid sensor combination. It accepts inputs from up to two process photometers and four Memosens sensors simultaneously, measuring up to 16 different parameters from six analytical sensors. Sensor types supported include pH, ORP, conductivity, dissolved oxygen, nitrate, turbidity, free chlorine, and ion-selective sensors. Mathematical functions allow the CM44P to calculate measured values based on multiple input values, enabling up to six “virtual” process values such as pH calculation from two conductivity values or rH value based on pH and ORP inputs.
The CM44P is especially suited for demanding analytical processes. In chromatography, combining a UV process photometer with pH and conductivity measurement ensures accurate detection of the target product and verifies buffer quality, leading to optimum product yield. The transmitter also detects the transition from product to cleaning phase, allowing optimization of cleaning and flushing cycles. In fermentation, photometer measurement with pH and dissolved oxygen helps achieve optimal growth conditions for microorganisms. For filtration, combining turbidity and dissolved oxygen measurement provides an accurate overview of the process, indicating product purity and whether oxygen has penetrated the process.
The transmitter performs diagnostics on all connected sensors and analyzers, transmitting error messages according to NE107 categories. Diagnostic functions include monitoring pH glass impedance, measuring signal stagnation, monitoring electrode condition and aging, checking overcurrent conditions, and comparing conductivity and temperature values against USP and EP specifications for pharmaceutical water.
Communication options are extensive, including 0/4…20 mA, HART, PROFIBUS DP, Modbus RS485/RTU, Modbus TCP, EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, and an integrated web server. The web server allows operators to remotely view diagnostic data, perform configurations, or access device parameters in any web browser, even via smartphone. The transmitter can be extended with an Ex module whose approvals (IECEx, ATEX, CSA) allow connection of sensors installed in hazardous areas.
The CM44P interfaces to all Memosens sensors from Endress+Hauser and other vendors. Sensor-related data stored directly in the sensor head can be accessed for analysis, mathematical calculations, and diagnostic purposes. Data can be stored in a tamper-proof database or SD card, exported to CSV, and logged with up to 150,000 entries in up to eight logbooks. All settings and logbooks are stored in non-volatile memory for retention during power failure. Memosens lab-calibrated sensors and hot plug-and-play allow fast commissioning.
The transmitter is available as a field device (IP66/67) or cabinet device (IP20), with an external display option (IP66). Housing materials include PC-FR base and DIN rail housing with EPDM seals. The CM44P holds cCSAus, IECEx, and ATEX certifications.
