The Proline Promag W 400 is a versatile electromagnetic flowmeter from Endress+Hauser, designed as a standard solution for the water and wastewater industry. With international approvals for both custody transfer and drinking water applications, it serves a broad spectrum of measurement tasks and is available in compact or remote versions.

The meter operates on a bidirectional electromagnetic measuring principle that is virtually independent of pressure, density, temperature, and viscosity. The patented full-bore sensor requires no inlet or outlet runs (0 x DN) and ensures constant accuracy with no pressure loss due to cross-section constriction. With no moving parts, the device is maintenance-free and delivers energy-efficient measurement. The nominal diameter range covers DN 25 to 2400 (1 to 90 inches), with measuring capabilities from 9 dm³/min up to 110,000 m³/h (2.5 gal/min to 700 Mgal/d).

Wetted materials are selected for compatibility with water and wastewater applications. Liner options include hard rubber (0 to +80°C), polyurethane (–20 to +50°C), and PTFE (–20 to +90°C). Electrode materials are available in 1.4435 (316L) stainless steel, Alloy C22 (2.4602 / UNS N06022), and Tantalum. Measurement accuracy is specified at ±0.5% of reading ± 1 mm/s for standard applications, with an optional high-accuracy version at ±0.2% of reading ± 2 mm/s. The maximum process pressure is PN 40, Class 300, or 20K.

The sensor housing is constructed from AlSi10Mg coated aluminum for DN 25 to 300, and carbon steel with protective varnish for larger sizes. The sensor meets EN ISO 12944 corrosion protection standards, making it suitable for underground or permanent underwater installation. Holds international drinking water approvals including ACS, KTW/W270, NSF 61, and WRAS BS 6920, with custody transfer certification according to MI-001/OIML R49 standards. Protection ratings include IP66/67, Type 4X as standard, with optional IP68 (Type 6P) for remote sensor versions.
